Thirukkural Kathaigal

About the book

'Thirukkural Kathaigal' grounds evergreen moral philosophies in familiar, domestic settings. The book shows that virtue is timeless, and understanding these moral principles is especially crucial during a child's formative years. The book, through modern storytelling, makes ancient wisdom of the Tamil classic written 2000 years ago, 'thirukkural' comprehensible to today's young readers. The book showcases ethical living, gender and social equality through realistic domestic scenarios. Instead of preaching direct moral instructions, it illustrates these values through everyday situations. The beauty lies in its subtlety: moral lessons emerge organically through plot developments and character interactions, encouraging readers to reflect and draw their conclusions. The stories demonstrate how principles of equality and ethical behaviour can be seamlessly integrated into modern family life. The book succeeds in making these profound concepts into simple, captivating stories. It proves that good storytelling can bridge the gap between classical teachings and contemporary understanding. This book has been written by Kokila, who has published 8 books in Tamil focusing on politics and history. She is also working with NGOs to educate children belonging to poor financial backgrounds.
