She has worked as a professor for 27 years and as Principal of a college for 4 years. She brings in rich field research experience of about 30 years. She has penned 23 books and over 250 essays. Her book 'Penniyam' has seen 12 editions. Her books on feminism have been prescribed as textbooks and reference books in several universities, self-financing colleges and Puducherry Central University. Two of her books have been published by the Sahitya Akademi. Two of her books are being translated into English. She is called 'Penniyam Prema' (Feminist Prema) in the literary circles.
